VOICEMEETER is regular Windows application. It provides virtual audio devices to the operating system.
After the successful installation VOICEMEETER (PRO) can be found in the Windows application menu (VB-Audio sub-menu). The program can be set to start with Windows and appears as symbol in the systray. The Windows system audio device list presents now a virtual VOICEMEETER playback and recording device (VOICEMEETER PRO: 2 virtual devices).
The quickest way to configure VOICEMEETER is to simply use it as default audio device and connect it as your main playback device. This way all PC sounds will travel through VOICEMEETER before playing back to your speakers and can be mixed with other sources (microphones, sound cards). To do this, open the Windows sound setup dialog and set it’s virtual audio device as DEFAULT PLAYBACK/RECORDING DEVICES.
TIP: If you don’t use VOICEMEETER as virtual audio device, it is simply another application with an audio device driver. If you use it as your Windows audio mixer, you should connect all your audio sources to it. This will prevent other applications to use an audio device, which is already accessed by VOICEMEETER.

VOICEMEETER AS AUDIO DEVICE MIXER.
Manage audio in a smart way. Manage audio at all.
VOICEMEETER is the first application, which can mix audio sources from different audio devices with any audio application. Microphones, Soundcards, Music, Movie Sound, a Skype call, Video game sound, Teamspeak, Internet Radio … all sources can be mixed, regardless of their driver format.
The mixes can be sent to two hardware devices (BUS A1/A2) and to software (BUS B / Multi-Client). It can even be streamed to VBAN network clients.
Sounds easy? Far from it! Out of the box Microsoft Windows cannot mix several audio device drivers and audio applications.
Example: It is not possible to mix a headset plus an audio input with a Skype call and listen to the combined result. Usually it´s only possible, to use more than one device at a time in a software application (e. g. the Mic headset in Skype, Game Sound). Especially internet browsers don´t provide a audio device selection, they are limited to the default windows audio device.
VOICEMEETER comes to the rescue: It works as a Virtual Soundcard, which mixes every source – seamlessly. It even streams Audio over the Network to other VBAN clients (see below).
VOICEMEETER can be set as main Windows audio device. The mixes can be routed to all hard- and software, present in the system. Windows recognizes VOICEMEETER as a multi-channel “hardware” device with 12 inputs and 12 outputs (see “Specifications” below).
VOICEMEETER supports all common audio formats: MME, Direct-X, KS, WaveRT, WASAPI and ASIO. This way all audio devices can be simply plugged into VOICEMEETER.
With the universal driver support VOICEMEETER can even work as a bridge for different driver formats, combining audio hardware from different manufacturers and exchanging audio, e. g. Focusrite, RME, UAD, Soundblaster … you name it.

VOICEMEETER´s VIRTUAL I/O.
Add software applications to your mix.
VOICEMEETER provides a Virtual Input and Output with 8 channels each, which allows it to connect software, like Game Sound or Voice-over-IP apps. Thanks to the universal driver support – including ASIO – every Windows application can be connected to VOICEMEETER.
If the Virtual Input is set as default Windows audio device, all sounds will be sent directly to VOICEMEETER – if not specified otherwise. This way Windows audio can be played at any time without any previous device configuration. All Windows sounds will be “collected” in VOICEMEETER, mixed together and played on the specified outputs (e. g. speakers or headphones). No sound questions asked anymore.
By the way: Surround sound anyone? Working, right out of the box. Just plug & play your apps.
The Virtual Input even supports multi-client ASIO operation on it´s 8 I/Os. 4 ASIO applications can send and receive signals at the same time.

VOICEMEETER AS STREAMING HUB.
Network audio. Including mobile devices. WTH?
With VBAN, it is possible to send audio from several VOICEMEETER apps to other PCs in the local network and to mobile iOS and Android devices – connected via WIFI.
VOICEMEETER can receive 4 seperate audio streams on any input. It can send the mixes from BUS A or B as 4 streams to different computers or mobile devices connected to the same local network. Streaming audio is coming home. Or via WIFI to a public place.
A VBAN Stream in Voicemeeter can be set in any standard samplerate from 11025 Hz to 96 kHz in 16 or 24 bits resolution with 1 to 8 channels (mono sound to 7.1). It allows transporting high quality audio in native PCM format on your local network – including WIFI!
